Job Summary

The Commonwealth of Virginia is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Family Services Specialist III to join our team. As a key member of our social services department, you will be responsible for providing critical support to vulnerable populations, including children and families in need.

Key Responsibilities
  • Monitor and coordinate assigned programs to ensure effective delivery of services.
  • Develop and implement service plans to address the unique needs of clients.
  • Conduct thorough investigations and assessments to identify potential risks and develop strategies for mitigation.
  • Provide expert testimony in court proceedings and collaborate with attorneys to ensure the best possible outcomes for clients.
  • Develop and deliver training programs to educate clients and community partners on social services best practices.
  • Stay up-to-date on relevant laws, policies, and regulations to ensure compliance and provide expert guidance to colleagues.
  • Collaborate with community partners, including law enforcement, healthcare providers, and social services agencies, to ensure a comprehensive approach to client support.
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with clients, colleagues, and community partners to ensure seamless service delivery.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in a human services field or related field with a minimum of two years of experience in a social services setting.
  • Considerable experience in child protective services, adult protective services, or a related field.
  • Strong knowledge of social work principles, human behavior, and motivational theory.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse populations.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize multiple tasks and responsibilities.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in a human services field or related field.
  • Experience working in child protective services or adult protective services.
  • Experience working with community partners, including law enforcement, healthcare providers, and social services agencies.
  • Bilingual or multilingual skills.
