NHS Professionals is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Early Years Practitioner to join our team at University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust. As a key member of our nursery team, you will be responsible for providing high-quality care and education to children aged 3 months to 5 years.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide a safe, secure, and stimulating environment for children, ensuring their physical, emotional, and educational needs are met.
  • Plan and implement a range of engaging and educational activities, aligned with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) curriculum.
  • Build strong relationships with children, parents, and colleagues, promoting a sense of community and teamwork.
  • Collaborate with the nursery SENDco to support children with additional needs, ensuring their development is promoted as fully as possible.
  • Maintain accurate records of children's development, learning, and activities, using online learning journals via Tapestry.
  • Contribute to the preparation and serving of food, ensuring a safe and healthy environment for children and staff.
  • Exercise a duty of care for work colleagues, ensuring a safe working environment for all.

Requirements:

  • Good standard of secondary education, with literacy and numeracy skills demonstrable to GCSE pass level or equivalent.
  • Willingness and ability to undertake Food Safety training.
  • Hold a full and relevant Level 3 Early Years Qualification (in accordance with this link) or above.
  • Able to provide relevant activity ideas and ability to care for children.
  • Demonstrates an enthusiastic approach to working with children and learning practically within nursery.
  • Recent previous experiences of working with 3 months – 5-year-olds within a childcare setting.
