Data Centre M&E Engineer Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Data Centre M&E Engineer to join our team at a global data centre services organisation. The successful candidate will be responsible for routine and reactive maintenance to electrical and mechanical systems in a highly critical environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Operate all M&E systems within the Data Centre in a competent, effective and efficient manner.
  • Ensure that all Specialist Sub Contractors conduct works in line with approved Standard Operating procedures.
  • Apply a risk-focused maintenance approach and operations of plant and systems in data centres/critical environments.
  • Ensure all critical client services, computer rooms, data networks, manufacturing, and revenue-earning services meet client requirements.
  • Provide emergency response standby, call out, and escalate urgent issues.
  • Complete records and logs required to demonstrate delivery of maintenance requirements.
  • Control and supervise contractors when required.
  • Conduct emergency lighting testing.
  • Perform all electrical work including lighting, wiring, testing, alarm systems, BMS, lighting systems, and heat exchangers.
  • Evaluate and escalate any potential risks, with an assessment of impact, probable causes, and mitigation opportunities.
  • Actively contribute to continuous improvement of safe systems of work, ensuring compliance with relevant QHSE policy and procedures.
  • Support the Data Centre Shift Leader in the day-to-day operational delivery of all planned, reactive, corrective, and project-related works.
Requirements:
  • Trade trained with ideally 3 years' experience in building services.
  • City & Guilds Qualified Electrical Level 3.
  • Experience in a critical site (Data Centre or Banking Sites).
  • Good building services knowledge.
  • Demonstrate a willingness to attend on and off-site training for plant and systems, which may require nights away from home.
