Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Operations Support Specialist to join our Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) Operations team at Essex County Council. As an Operations Support Specialist, you will play a key role in delivering our statutory duties for SEN assessment, monitoring, and review.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage a caseload of children with existing Education Health and Care Plans (EHCPs)
- Coordinate school placements and liaise with internal and external partners
- Identify and address issues affecting individual children and young people
- Prepare and present information for decision-making panels
- Act as a frontline contact for parents, schools, and partner agencies
- Liaise with other local authorities for children moving in or out of Essex
- Maintain tracking systems for students at phase transfer each year
- Support our response to priority work, including Tribunal cases
- Prioritize workload and escalate issues when necessary
Requirements
- Educated to RQF level 2 or equivalent
- Knowledge of SEND Code of Practice 2015
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Experience in a business support or administrative environment
- Effective time management and adaptability
