Job Summary

We are seeking two experienced journalists to join our dynamic team at BBC West, based in Bristol. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for creating and delivering high-quality content for our digital and television platforms.

Main Responsibilities

You will work across digital and television output, writing engaging stories that resonate with our audience. You will also collaborate with our planning team to prepare and produce regional television and local radio bulletins and programmes. Additionally, you may have the opportunity to deputise as our on-the-day News Organiser or digital News Editor, or work with our Investigations Team.

Requirements

  • A clear understanding of the main priorities of BBC Local and a genuine passion to support the BBC West news team in developing and reaching more audiences from diverse backgrounds.
  • A proven track record of finding, researching, and delivering engaging, impactful, and original stories for television, online, social media, and radio.
  • Proficiency in using newsgathering, video editing, TV production, and online writing software.
  • Ability to self-shoot confidently and effectively using iPhones, MOJO kit, or small cameras.
  • Enthusiasm for regular shift working, including early mornings, late evenings, and weekends.
  • Strong team player with the ability to work solo for periods of time.
