Job Title: SEND Tribunal Officer

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced SEND Tribunal Officer to join our team at Wokingham Borough Council. As a key member of our SEND Team, you will play a crucial role in delivering a comprehensive analysis of information and reports, identifying and managing reputational and financial risk.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Deliver a comprehensive analysis of information and reports, identifying and managing reputational and financial risk.
  • Manage and represent the Council through attendance at First-tier Tribunal (SEND) legal hearings, including Case Management Hearings and Judicial Alternative Dispute Resolution (JADR) hearings.
  • Provide expert knowledge on the SEND Code of Practice 2015, Children and Families Act 2014, Case Law Rulings and SEND Regulations to support the effective delivery of the SEND Service.
  • Maintain a high level of legal knowledge as it applies to SEND, including the ability to confidently translate Part 3 of the Children and Families Act 2014, The Special Educational Needs and Disability Regulations 2014 and SEN and disability case law into working practice.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft office packages, with enhanced ability in using MS Excel to integrate data and MS PowerPoint to present findings.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • High level of legal knowledge as it applies to SEND.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft office packages.
