Job Summary

Connect2Socialwork is seeking an experienced SEND case officer to work in Camden Council. The successful candidate will hold a caseload of children and provide effective, evidence-based interventions with consideration of timeliness and impact.

Key Responsibilities

1. Provide leadership for tribunal and formal disagreements, including preparing cases for tribunal, liaising with Legal Services, SEND services, and multi-agency practitioners. Represent the Local Authority in a legal environment and present Local Authority cases at SENDT, defending the appropriateness of proposed service provision.

2. Ensure mediation and problem resolution are active features at an early stage in caseworkers' engagement with families to reduce tribunal numbers.

3. Provide advice on and attend resolution meetings with parents and other practitioners to settle disputed issues without formal legal redress, including negotiating changes to EHC plans.

4. Engage with schools and other agencies to develop awareness and understanding of best practice in assessment, planning, and person-centred approaches.

5. Lead on the workforce development strategy by working with team managers to identify, manage, and resolve practice concerns.

6. Respond to concerns raised via the SENDT process and through other means, ensuring timely and effective interventions.
