Procurement Manager Job Description

BAM is seeking an experienced Procurement Manager to strengthen our Supply Chain Management and Procurement team. The successful candidate will be responsible for undertaking procurement activities for civil engineering projects across Scotland, primarily in the energy infrastructure sector.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement procurement strategies to support the BAM strategy of focus, transform & expand, and the Divisional Procurement strategy and objectives.
  • Manage the procurement function to create value, achieve sustainability objectives, lower risks, and drive higher margins through proactive management, collaboration, and knowledge sharing.
  • Prepare supply chain management data and procurement reports for presentation to the Senior Leadership Team, including carbon intensity reporting.
  • Promote and support Category Management, drive compliance through better use of framework agreements and preferred suppliers, and seek opportunities through regional and SME supply chain networks.
  • Support and enhance business initiatives, including DFMA and digital technologies within the supply chain to improve efficiency and productivity.
  • Ensure the procurement function is engaged and accountable at every stage of the project lifecycle, and the supply chain works collaboratively to deliver the requirements of the Sustainability Strategy.
  • Ensure financial resilience and health checks are undertaken within the supply chain throughout the procurement process.
  • Promote a standardised Divisional approach to the procurement process and ensure effective negotiations are conducted with the Supply Chain.
Requirements:
  • Educated to a degree level in an Engineering, Commercial, or Business related discipline.
  • Proven ability to lead whole life cycle procurement activities for major infrastructure frameworks, including civils works, building construction, and mechanical and electrical related scope.
  • Experienced in developing Procurement Strategies and Procurement Plans in collaboration with key stakeholders.
  • Good awareness of supply chain vendors, for both subcontract and materials procurement, including through international sourcing opportunities.
  • Expertise in supply chain resource capacity analysis to support demand planning.
