About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Safety Manager to join our team at Marshall Group. As a key member of our management team, you will be responsible for ensuring the safety and environmental management of our projects, particularly in the defence sector.

Key Responsibilities
  • Establish and maintain project Safety and Environmental Management Systems (SEMS) in accordance with defence policy, legislation, and regulations.
  • Act as the principal point of contact for customer stakeholders, internal project stakeholders, and integrated ecosystem members on all safety and environmental matters.
  • Monitor and report progress and achievement against safety and environmental targets and objectives.
  • Lead the development and implementation of safety and environmental plans, assessments, and reports.
  • Collaborate with appointed Independent Safety and Environmental Assessors (ISEAs) to support audits and provide project documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with Defence Acquisition Safety and Environmental Management System (ASEMS) and associated Defence Standards, Regulations, and Legislation.
  • Support the development of Safety and Environmental Case Reports (SECRs) and define supporting artefacts and assessments.
  • Plan and support Safety and Environmental Working Groups and manage the execution of Project Safety and Environmental Panel (PSEP) Meetings.
  • Conduct safety and environmental audits, both internally and with ecosystem members, including supporting appointed independent safety and environmental auditors.
  • Investigate safety incidents and make recommendations for continuous improvement.
Requirements
  • Experience of stakeholder management across a consortium of companies.
  • Experience of using e-Cassandra for production and maintenance of defence safety hazard logs.
  • Experience of conducting environmental impact management.
  • Detailed understanding of the MOD Acquisition Safety and Environmental Management System (ASEMS), including Project Oriented Safety Management System (POSMS) and Project Oriented Environmental Management System (POEMS).
  • Knowledge of applicable Defence guidance, legislation, and regulations, including JSP375, JSP418, and JSP392.
  • Previous experience of applying IEC 61508 and the application of Safety Integrity Levels (SILs) to systems.
  • Knowledge of Radiation Hazard (RADHAZ) management.
  • Experience of management of S&E for electronic systems, particularly around Programmable Elements (PE).
  • Proficient use of Microsoft Office products.
  • Previous experience delivering defence projects, aligned with ASEMS.
  • Ability to obtain Security Clearance for UK MoD work.
