Role Objective

The Street Lighting Division within the Richmond Upon Thames and Wandsworth Boroughs is responsible for the upkeep of street lighting infrastructure across both areas. Each street light is associated with numerous attributes recorded in an asset register.

We are seeking a skilled technical administrator to accurately document and manage the attributes of each street lighting asset, ensuring they are updated in the street lighting asset register.

Efficient data capture and recording of street lighting attributes are essential for the smooth daily maintenance, repair, and operation of the street lighting services.

While the position is primarily office-based, occasional site visits will be necessary for data collection purposes.

The successful candidate will also be responsible for processing invoices, raising orders for the maintenance team, and effectively communicating with the public.

We are looking for an organized and motivated individual who can adapt to a dynamic work environment. You will be part of a close-knit team supporting three Engineers, alongside an existing administrative role.

Key Responsibilities

  • Update and maintain the street lighting asset register and management system.
  • Record the installation of new street lights and attachments, providing reports and statistical data.
  • Contribute to the efficient daily operation of street lighting services.
  • Assist in the administration and processing of invoices through the council's financial system.
  • Communicate with contractors, suppliers, and the public through written correspondence and phone calls.
  • Prepare post-meeting reports, ensuring timely distribution of documents.
  • Provide routine administrative support on a daily basis.
  • Conduct site visits to document and capture details of attachments on Council street lights.

Essential Qualifications, Skills, and Experience

  • Strong communication skills with the ability to engage with individuals at all levels.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Exceptional attention to detail.
  • Proficient administrative, written, numerical, and analytical skills.
  • Familiarity with Excel or Microsoft Access databases.
  • Self-motivated and capable of working independently under tight deadlines.
  • Comfortable working outdoors.
  • Understanding of procurement and invoicing processes.
  • Qualifications: GCSE A to C (including Maths and English) or equivalent.
