Position Requirements:

We are seeking professionals for Principal, Associate, or Chief Geotechnical Engineering roles within our Ground Engineering division. Ideal candidates will possess the leadership and technical acumen necessary to manage intricate geotechnical projects, engage in technical reviews, and mentor colleagues at AtkinsRéalis to deepen their understanding of advanced geotechnical concepts.

The successful applicants will play a crucial leadership role in our Geotechnical and Numerical Modelling Technical Disciplines, which are essential to our technical capabilities, ensuring that AtkinsRéalis remains a leader in geotechnical design and modelling as client expectations evolve.

Ideal Candidates Should Have:
  • A robust academic foundation with a relevant engineering degree, ideally complemented by an MSc or PhD in a pertinent field, and holding Chartered status.
  • Extensive experience in geotechnical analysis and design, particularly in seismic geotechnical contexts, including shallow and deep foundation design, soil-structure interaction, seismic deformation analysis, seismic response evaluations for dams and embankments, liquefaction assessments, and ground improvement techniques.
  • Proven experience in leading numerical modelling teams utilizing advanced software (e.g., FLAC / FLAC3D, PLAXIS 2D / 3D) and interpreting results.
  • A comprehensive understanding of advanced constitutive soil models, parameter selection, soil-structure interaction, and experience with numerical modelling software alongside standard geotechnical tools.
  • Experience in validating geotechnical numerical analyses and calibrating numerical models.
  • Capability to manage geotechnical numerical analysis processes within interdisciplinary project environments.
  • A drive for digital innovation to enhance AtkinsRéalis' capabilities in advanced geotechnical analysis and design.
  • Exceptional communication skills and the confidence to collaborate with clients and engineers from various disciplines.
  • Strong report writing skills with the ability to oversee the delivery of high-quality documentation and review colleagues' work.
  • A willingness to undertake short-term travel assignments, both domestically and internationally.
  • A valid UK driving licence.
