About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Bilingual Classroom Assistant to join our team at Plumstead Manor School. As a key member of our staff, you will play a vital role in supporting the learning of our students whose first language is not English.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide tailored support to individual students and small groups in class under the guidance of a teacher.
  • Lead small group withdrawal interventions to boost and accelerate the progress of EAL students.
  • Monitor the achievement of EAL students, recording and reporting on their progress.
  • Develop and implement interventions to support the learning of EAL students.
Requirements
  • Level 2 qualifications in English and Maths.
  • Ability to speak, and ideally to read and write in one or more additional languages.
  • Flexibility to work across multiple languages and support pupils from diverse backgrounds and needs.
  • Good communication skills and flexibility.
Desirable Qualifications and Experience
  • TEFL/ESOL qualification.
  • Knowledge of best practice in meeting the needs of EAL Learners.
  • Experience of teaching English as an additional second language.
