Infrastructure Train Planner

Job Summary:
The Infrastructure Train Planner will be responsible for carrying out planning workloads efficiently and effectively to comply with network code and industry processes.
Main Responsibilities:
- Work as directed by the Infrastructure Planning Manager to ensure the timely and efficient implementation of the weekly train plan.
- Meet strict deadlines and work collaboratively with the planning team to deliver a first-class service to customers and Freightliner Heavy Haul.
- Examine Network Rail documentation and possession train orders to produce train crew diagrams that make the most efficient use of driver resources.
- Liaise with industry partners and suppliers as necessary to ensure the smooth operation of the planning team.
- Work with operations and rosters to ensure that all duties are carried out effectively.
Key Requirements:
- A good knowledge of freight train operations and a sound understanding of railway geography.
- Excellent planning skills, with the ability to produce diagrams for operational staff that are compliant with all internal and industry criteria.
- A logical thinker with an analytical approach to problem-solving and highly developed numeracy skills.
- Good computer skills, including the ability to use NROL (train planning software), TOPS/TRUST, and general office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook).

- Exhibit energy, enthusiasm, and resilience to drive through outcomes.
- Ability to work to strict deadlines and communicate clearly in both verbal and written formats.
