Job Title: Infrastructure Planning Specialist

Location: Crewe

Shifts: Monday - Friday 8:00 - 4:00

Reports to: Infrastructure Planning Manager

Purpose of the Role:

To carry out planning workloads efficiently and effectively to comply with network code and industry processes.

To work within the wider planning team to ensure that the weekly train plan is implemented in a timely and efficient manner, liaising with industry contacts as necessary. Particular emphasis will be placed upon producing a plan that maximises profitability for Freightliner Heavy Haul whilst meeting customer requirements.

Main duties and responsibilities:

Work as directed by Infrastructure Planning Manager.
Meet strict deadlines.
Work as part of the planning team to deliver weekly train plan as required to provide a first-class service to both customer and Freightliner Heavy Haul.
Examination of Network Rail documentation and possession train orders.
Production of train crew diagrams making most efficient use of the driver resources.
Liaising as necessary with industry partners and suppliers.
Work with operations and rosters as required.
Work as required to ensure that all duties are carried out.

Financial:

Focussed on working within budget parameters;
Focussed on continuous improvement to enhance efficiencies and effectiveness in the planning team

Health and Safety:

Contribute to the improvement of the safety culture;
Taking reasonable care of own health and safety and that of any person who may be affected by your acts or omissions at work;
Comply with health and safety legislation;
Carrying out any work in accordance with any training, instruction or company procedure that is relevant to the position;
Informing your line manager of any health and safety problems identified by yourself or identified to you by other people;
Using any safety equipment provided by FLHH that you have been trained to use in a proper and appropriate manner;

Work collaboratively with team members and other departments.

Key job requirements:

A good knowledge of freight train operations with a sound knowledge of railway geography is required.
Excellent Planning skills, with the ability to produce diagrams for operational staff which are compliant with all internal and industry criteria.
Logical thinker with an analytical approach to problem-solving
Highly developed numeracy skills
Good computer skills, including the ability to use NROL (train planning software), TOPS/ TRUST and general office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook).

Salary Range: £22,500 - £28,000
