Position: Senior Merchandiser

Company: Rapanui Clothing (a division of Teemill Tech Ltd)

As a Senior Merchandiser, you will oversee the entire merchandising process within our product development and purchasing team. This role encompasses the strategic planning and management of inventory, as well as the trading and optimization of products to align with both consumer demands and business objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage core product planning and inventory control through excel-based WSSIs to maximize sales and achieve size availability and stock turnover goals.
  • Develop seasonal range builds in collaboration with Buying, Design, and Finance teams.
  • Conduct assortment planning and supplier production scheduling.
  • Oversee Open-to-Buy management and size ratio optimization.
  • Facilitate weekly supplier Critical Path meetings, ensuring timely updates and changes are communicated effectively to manage production and enhance sales.
  • Maintain an inventory intake tracker and optimize shipping permissions based on business requirements.
  • Lead product strategy sessions focusing on lessons learned with product developers.
  • Implement departmental strategies in alignment with directives from the Managing Director.
  • Establish a clear range architecture, categorizing products as Good, Better, or Best.
  • Act as a strategic liaison across departments: Marketing, Wholesale, International, Ecommerce, Finance/Merchandising, and Logistics.
  • Achieve or exceed company gross profit targets by ensuring product collections meet margin expectations.
  • Prepare and present weekly trade reports.
  • Optimize trade through various selling channels, including website merchandising.
  • Support broader business development initiatives, including strategic planning and the implementation of new revenue streams.

Required Experience:

  • Proven ability to create and lead a merchandising function, including designing and implementing new processes.
  • Essential experience in fashion retail merchandising.
  • Experience in leading teams with direct reports.
  • Commercial finance knowledge, particularly in managing a P&L, is advantageous.

  • Strong analytical skills to identify successes and failures, with a focus on performance improvement.
  • Collaborative team player, capable of working cross-functionally.
  • Exceptional communication skills for presentations and brand representation in various forums.
  • Proficient in Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to drive brand advancement.
  • Highly motivated and dedicated to contributing to a growing brand that aims to innovate in the fashion industry.
