Job Description

Fugro is seeking a highly skilled Staff Laboratory Engineer to join their Geotechnical Laboratory team in Wallingford, Oxfordshire. As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for performing advanced tests on soil samples from client projects globally.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct advanced tests on soil samples, including monotonic cyclic triaxial and simple shear tests.
  • Operate state-of-the-art equipment and computer control programs to record data.
  • Process and check test results, as well as train new technicians in the laboratory.
  • Work collaboratively with the laboratory team to achieve project goals.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 5 GCSEs grade A to C, including Maths and Science, and 1 A-Level grade A-C in a Maths or Science subject.
  • Strong MS Excel knowledge and excellent numeracy and literacy skills.
  • Troubleshooting skills and ability to work unsupervised.
  • Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to work to specific standards and applied specifications.

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Experience working in a geotechnical laboratory or within the geotechnical industry.
  • Degree in a physical science, especially courses that have soil mechanics or mechanics of materials.
  • Good knowledge of soil behavior and foundation engineering issues.
