Job Title: Principal Process Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled Principal Process Engineer to lead the provision of technical support to our nuclear Submarine maintenance teams based in Plymouth.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the delivery of work packages in accordance with the design process to maintain and improve capabilities
  • Manage the production, checking and approval of technical documentation and drawings
  • Lead engineering analyses including calculations, component structural analysis and system fluid flow analysis
  • Act as subject matter expert and lead the provision of advice to the Head of Nuclear Engineering Group and other key stakeholders
  • Manage and develop a team of Engineers with varying levels of seniority/experience
  • Control modifications to the design intent of nuclear process plant and equipment
  • Ensure compliance with relevant codes, standards and regulations

Essential Knowledge and Experience:

  • Knowledge of mechanical engineering principles for the design, operation and maintenance of pressure/pipework systems
  • Experience leading a team of engineers in a design or technical support function
  • Experience using engineering software packages
  • Experience in the design, operation or maintenance of pressure systems in a highly regulated industry
  • Experience in the application of, and demonstration of compliance with, legislation, engineering standards and design codes
  • Knowledge of the design lifecycle and experience of leading work within it
  • Experience in project specification, planning and budgeting
  • Knowledge of the considerations for safe design, operation and maintenance of nuclear/radiologically implicated systems

Qualifications:

  • A degree in a Mechanical or Chemical Engineering
  • Professional membership as a Chartered Engineer with a relevant institution
