Key Responsibilities:

As a Senior Academic, you will take on additional responsibilities, significantly contributing to the enhancement of the academic and professional atmosphere. Your role will include:

  • Actively participating in university/ESL research initiatives, promoting a culture of innovation and inquiry.

Quality Assurance and Continuous Enhancement:

  • Playing a crucial role in the ongoing improvement of teaching and learning standards, implementing and monitoring self-assessment processes.
  • Contributing to the formulation and execution of quality enhancement strategies.

External Engagement and Collaboration:

  • Strengthening connections with external stakeholders, industry partners, and employers to enrich the student experience and foster collaborative initiatives.
  • Representing ESL at external forums, enhancing the institution's reputation and standing.

Teaching and Support:

  • Delivering high-quality instruction across a range of programs within a Higher Education setting, particularly focusing on Foundation year in your discipline.
  • Providing tailored support to students, assisting them in achieving their academic objectives and making positive progress.
  • Actively contributing to the development and continuous improvement of courses, collaborating effectively with both staff and students.
  • Creating module/unit-specific Schemes of Work and developing module materials for each course undertaken.
  • Facilitating subject-specific sessions aligned with the Learning Outcomes and syllabuses of modules.
  • Implementing assessments as outlined by the assessment team and establishing measures to understand the learning needs of students.
  • Offering timely formative feedback as specified by each program's requirements and marking assignments within the prescribed deadlines.
  • Ensuring compliance with the expectations of the Programme Specification of respective Awarding Bodies and Universities.
  • Producing appropriate module/unit reports and demonstrating effective communication with students from diverse backgrounds.
  • Contributing to the School's Research Department.

Qualifications and Skills:

Essential:

  • Doctoral qualification in a relevant subject area (Senior Academic Only).
  • Minimum of 4 years' experience in teaching at HE level in the UK (Senior Academic).
  • Master's degree in a relevant subject area (Minimum requirement for Lecturer).
  • Prior lecturing experience for similar courses at the Higher Education level.
  • Proficiency in utilizing Blackboard/VLEs, MS Teams, and Zoom.
  • PhD in a relevant field (Senior Academic only).
  • Native English speaker or current IELTS 7.5 Academic Certification.
  • Demonstrable ability to prepare and oversee implementation of program development plans and assess colleagues' work.
  • Strong communication skills with senior education professionals.
  • Ability to build and maintain effective teacher/learner relationships with students.

Desirable:

  • Possession of a teaching qualification such as FHEA or PGCHE, reflecting a commitment to excellence in teaching and learning.
  • A well-developed understanding of maintaining positive cross-cultural and interpersonal relationships.
  • High-level communication and presentation skills.
