About the Role:
We are seeking an experienced Senior Ecologist to join our team at CHM Recruit. As a Senior Ecologist, you will be responsible for leading and delivering ecological projects, providing high-quality expertise to ensure the protection and benefits of nature and wildlife.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and deliver ecological projects, including protected species surveys, site and habitat surveys and assessments, mitigation strategies, and conservation management advice.
- Manage and delegate tasks to Assistant Ecologists and Principal Ecologists as needed.
- Develop and implement ecological plans and strategies to ensure the protection and benefits of nature and wildlife.
- Collaborate with clients and stakeholders to understand their needs and provide tailored ecological solutions.
- Conduct ecological field surveys, including UKHab and protected species surveys.
- Develop and write reports, including Preliminary Ecological Appraisals, management plans, and Ecological Impact Assessments.
- Provide conservation and ecological advice to clients and stakeholders.
Requirements:
- Degree in ecology or a related field.
- Membership of CIEEM or working towards it.
- Protected species licence, preferably Bat Survey Level 2 (or above).
- Minimum of 4 years relevant work experience.
- Understanding and experience in the application of UK environmental legislation and policy.
- Experience in ecological field survey work and report writing.
- Up-to-date knowledge of survey guidance for protected species.
- Valid UK driving licence and access to own transport with business insurance use.
