Senior Ecologist Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Ecologist to join our team at RSK Group. As a Senior Ecologist, you will play a key role in leading and mentoring junior ecologists, conducting complex field surveys, and managing a portfolio of projects.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead and mentor junior ecologists to ensure high-quality deliverables and professional growth.
  • Conduct and oversee advanced ecological surveys, providing expert guidance and ensuring adherence to project timelines.
  • Manage a portfolio of projects, from large-scale developments to intricate mitigation strategies, ensuring successful delivery and client satisfaction.
  • Cultivate strong relationships with clients, understanding their needs, and providing bespoke ecological solutions that exceed expectations.
  • Ensure all projects comply with current legislation and best practice guidelines, producing detailed reports that support planning applications and development projects.
Requirements:
  • Relevant degree in ecology or a related field, or significant experience within a professional ecological consultancy.
  • Chartership with the Chartered Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management (CIEEM).
  • Proven experience in managing multiple or complex projects, and delivering high-quality ecological surveys.
  • Ecological expertise, including in-depth understanding of ecology, legislation, and advanced survey techniques.
  • Botanical and habitat skills, including enhanced botanical identification and habitat assessment.
  • Strategic planning knowledge, including application of relevant planning policies and their implications for development projects.
