About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Facilities Management Supervisor to join our operational team at The Mid Yorkshire Teaching NHS Trust. As a key member of our facilities management team, you will be responsible for leading the daily delivery of an efficient and effective customer-focused quality service in accordance with the National Standards of Healthcare Cleanliness.

Key Responsibilities
  • Service Delivery: Supervisors will be required to identify and respond to user needs and to solve problems/complaints as and when they arise. This will require effective liaison with other staff groups, particularly nursing and actively seeking constructive feedback on service provision.
  • Training and Supervision: To train, monitor and supervise facilities staff in all the elements of their role.
  • Domestic and Housekeeping Duties: Supervisors are required to work with staff teams and to carry out domestic and housekeeping duties to cover the needs of the service.
  • Health and Safety: Support the Trust's Health and Safety Policy ensuring staff are trained to ensure the safety of staff, visitors, and patients within their area of work.
  • Service Standards: Monitor areas of responsibility to ensure service standards are consistently delivered in line with National Cleaning Standards. Taking remedial action as necessary.
  • Catering Services: Monitoring of catering services at ward level to ensure compliance with the Trust's food safety documentation and current food safety legislation as highlighted in the Trust's food services policy and the ward catering procedures.
  • Food Waste Reduction: Actively support the reduction in food wastage.
  • Equipment Maintenance: To support the Team Leaders in ensuring equipment used to deliver the service is of the standard required and is maintained to physical and technical standards.
  • Inventory Management: To inform Team Leaders of the ordering requirements to maintain sufficient stock levels to deliver the service.
  • Incident Reporting: Undertake initial investigation and reporting of untoward incidents and accidents using Datix.
  • Administrative Tasks: Completion and returning of Absence Monitoring forms. Will be required to take responsibility for ensuring that return to work interviews are completed in a timely manner and that the Team Leaders are informed when an employee reaches the next stage of the Trust Management of Sickness and Absence Policy.
  • Payroll Administration: Checking and countersigning clock cards on a weekly basis in preparation for data entry to the payroll data base.
  • Leave Management: Management of annual leave requests in a timely manner.

Qualifications

  • Essential: Good standard of education in England and Maths.

Desirable

  • Level 3 Food Safety or prepared to study for within 3 months.
  • NVQ 2 or equivalent.
  • IOSH Supervising Safely Safety or prepared to study for within 3 months.
  • ILM 2 Supervisory Studies or prepared to study for within 3 months.

Experience

  • Essential: Previous Supervisory experience.

Desirable

  • Experience of working within a healthcare setting.

Knowledge and Awareness

  • Essential: Knowledge of clerical work. Keyboard skills. Knowledge of basic PC systems. Awareness of own limitations.

Desirable

  • Awareness of Health & Safety issues.
  • Awareness of Moving & Handling issues.

Other

  • Essential: Ability to satisfy Occupational Health screening. Adaptable and flexible according to the demands of the service. Understanding of need to maintain confidentiality.
