JOB OVERVIEW

Wood is seeking experienced contract Senior and Principal Environmental Engineers to support our Technical HSE Team.

You will collaborate with the Design HSE Group within the Engineering Department, reporting to the Group Manager Design HSE. This department operates within Wood's New Energies sector.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

As part of a project team, your responsibilities will include:

  • Developing Environmental Management Plans and Design Bases
  • Supervising environmental components of design and related documentation
  • Interpreting and implementing environmental legislation and standards
  • Conducting environmental impact assessments directly or via third-party consultants
  • Engaging in project reviews
  • Performing project audits

Qualified contractors may also take on the role of Lead Engineer within a project context. This technical position involves directing a team of Environmental Engineers, where you will:

  • Plan team activities and deliverables in alignment with project timelines
  • Ensure project deadlines, milestones, and budgets are met
  • Oversee and guide the work of your team
  • Coordinate with project management and clients
  • Facilitate communication and collaboration with other engineering discipline teams

Our clientele ranges from innovative energy transition start-ups to established multinational corporations.

Project phases encompass everything from conceptual studies to detailed design and construction, with a focus on Pre-FEED and FEED stages.

QUALIFICATIONS

Essential:
  • Bachelor's degree in an Engineering discipline, ideally Chemical or Process Engineering
  • Membership in a recognized professional institution
  • Technical expertise in core Environmental Engineering areas, including Emissions Quantification, Dispersion Modelling, Best Available Technology (BAT) Analysis, and Risk Assessments
  • Experience applying Environmental Engineering principles in design settings, particularly in Oil and Gas, Petrochemical, LNG, and Carbon Capture/Hydrogen Production
  • Strong analytical and conceptual thinking abilities, with a focus on managing personal and team workloads
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
Desirable:
  • Postgraduate qualification in Environmental Engineering or Sustainability
  • Experience in the process industry, particularly in energy, oil and gas, refining, and petrochemical sectors
  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities
  • Commercial awareness
