JOB OVERVIEW

Wood is actively seeking experienced contract Senior and Principal Environmental Engineers to support our Technical HSE Team.

You will collaborate closely with the Design HSE Group within the Engineering Department, reporting to the Group Manager Design HSE. This department is integral to Wood's New Energies business.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

As part of a project team, your responsibilities will include:

  • Developing Environmental Management Plans and Design Bases
  • Supervising environmental considerations in design and related documentation
  • Interpreting and implementing environmental legislation and standards
  • Conducting environmental impact assessments directly or via third-party consultants
  • Engaging in project reviews
  • Performing project audits

Qualified contractors may also take on the role of Lead Engineer within a project setting. This technical position involves guiding a team of Environmental Engineers, where you will:

  • Plan team activities and deliverables in line with project timelines
  • Ensure project deadlines, milestones, and budgets are met
  • Oversee and direct the work of your team
  • Coordinate with project management and clients
  • Facilitate communication and collaboration with other engineering discipline teams

Our clientele is diverse, ranging from energy transition start-ups to multinational corporations.

Project phases span from conceptual studies to detailed design and construction, with a significant focus on Pre-FEED and FEED stages.

QUALIFICATIONS

Essential:
  • Bachelor's degree in an Engineering discipline, ideally Chemical or Process Engineering
  • Membership in a recognized professional institution
  • Technical expertise in core Environmental Engineering areas, including Emissions Quantification, Dispersion Modelling, Best Available Technology (BAT) Analysis, and Risk Assessments
  • Experience applying Environmental Engineering in design contexts, particularly in Oil and Gas, Petrochemical, LNG, and Carbon Capture/Hydrogen Production
  • Strong analytical and conceptual thinking abilities, capable of managing personal and team workloads, with a focus on customer service and teamwork
  • Ability to meet delivery deadlines while collaborating with multifunctional teams
  • Proficient written and verbal communication skills
Desirable:
  • Postgraduate qualification in Environmental Engineering or Sustainability
  • Experience in the process industry, particularly in energy, oil and gas, refining, and petrochemical sectors
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and experience
  • Commercial awareness
