JOB OVERVIEW

Wood is actively seeking experienced contract Senior and Principal Environmental Engineers to support our Technical HSE Team.

You will collaborate with the Design HSE Group within the Engineering Department, reporting to the Group Manager Design HSE. This department operates within Wood's New Energies sector.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

As part of a project team, your role will encompass the following:

  • Developing Environmental Management Plans and Design Bases
  • Supervising environmental considerations in design and related documentation
  • Interpreting and enforcing environmental legislation and standards
  • Conducting environmental impact assessments, either directly or via third-party consultants
  • Engaging in project reviews
  • Performing project audits

Qualified contractors may also take on the role of Lead Engineer within a project setting. This technical position involves directing a team of Environmental Engineers, with responsibilities including:

  • Coordinating activities and deliverables of your team in line with project timelines
  • Ensuring project deadlines, milestones, and budgets are met
  • Overseeing and guiding the work of your team
  • Collaborating with project management and clients
  • Facilitating communication and coordination with other engineering disciplines

Our clientele is diverse, ranging from innovative energy transition start-ups to large multinational corporations.

Project phases vary from initial conceptual studies to detailed design and construction, with significant involvement in Pre-FEED and FEED stages.

QUALIFICATIONS

Essential:
  • Bachelor's degree in an Engineering discipline, ideally Chemical or Process Engineering
  • Membership in a recognized professional institution
  • Technical expertise in core Environmental Engineering areas, particularly; Emissions Quantification, Dispersion Modelling, Best Available Technology (BAT) Analysis, Risk Assessments, and familiarity with relevant international standards
  • Experience applying Environmental Engineering principles in a design context, particularly in sectors such as Oil and Gas, Petrochemical and Refining, LNG, and Carbon Capture/Hydrogen Production
  • Strong analytical and conceptual thinking abilities, with a focus on managing personal and team workloads, alongside a commitment to customer service and teamwork
  • Proven ability to meet delivery deadlines while collaborating effectively within multifunctional teams
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Desirable:
  • Postgraduate qualification in Environmental Engineering or Sustainability
  • Experience in the process industry, particularly in energy, oil and gas, refining, and petrochemical sectors
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and experience
  • Commercial awareness
