Senior Aerospace Applications Engineer

Altair Engineering is seeking a highly skilled Senior Application Engineer to join our team in Leamington Spa. As a key member of our Aerospace and Defence team, you will work closely with our strategic clients to solve complex problems, create value, and drive business growth.
Key Responsibilities- Collaborate with Account Managers to develop and execute sales strategies, from initial contact to post-sales phases.
- Deliver technical content to customers, including presentations, demonstrations, and evaluations, to drive long-term and short-term opportunities.
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with assigned accounts, aligning Altair solutions with clients' key business initiatives.
- Identify areas of opportunity to displace competition, add products, users, and expand usage globally.
- Contribute to account-based marketing strategies, drive technology deployment, and adoption, including partner solutions.
- Use technical product knowledge to assess customer needs, understand current infrastructure, and engineering workflows.
- Create and deliver compelling demonstrations of Altair's solutions to add value to customers' businesses.
- Provide customers with training on Altair's products, as needed.
- Stay current with the latest software releases and collaborate with the software team to guide future product development.
- Master's degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering.
- Full UK driving license.
- UK citizenship (including a UK passport).
- A minimum of 5 years' experience working in an aerospace OEM or Tier 1 Aerospace Supplier.
- Experience using commercial CAE tools within an engineering environment.
- Experience using Altair HyperWorks, OptiStruct, RADIOSS, or other CAE simulation software involving real-world, industry-level applications.
- Familiarity with aerospace processes and standards (e.g., regulations, MMPDS).
- Logical problem-solving approach and ability to clearly communicate solutions to customers.
- Familiarity with numerical solution techniques used in FEA.
- Willingness and ability to travel to customer sites.
- Diverse use of CAE tools across multiple disciplines.
- Experience with programming languages (TCL/Python or similar).
- FEA-based optimisation techniques applied to composite and metallic structures.
- Experience working in a software company in a pre-sales role.
- Competitive salary (flexible dependent on experience).
- Target variable pay of up to 10% of base salary, dependent on company and function performance metrics.
