Advanced Practitioner in Acute Oncology

An exciting opportunity has arisen within the acute oncology team at University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust for an advanced practitioner role. The successful candidate will work 50% alongside a matron role, managing the acute oncology team and supporting patients with toxicities of treatment at Princess Royal Hospital.
Main Duties- Support clinical decisions regarding care in acute oncology, working closely with medical colleagues to avoid patient admissions.
- Develop and implement innovative ways of collaborating with the multi-disciplinary team to improve the care of emergency cancer patients.
- Provide expert clinical leadership and guidance to the acute oncology team, ensuring high-quality patient care and outcomes.
- Work closely with the matron role in Worthing and SRH, providing cross-site support and cover as required.
- Develop and establish clinically effective standards of specialist care, initiating and developing protocols and guidelines to direct staff in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of effective specialist patient care.
- Collaborate with nurses and AHPs in general ward areas, supporting their educational needs in developing their skills in caring for patients with acute oncology needs.

Person SpecificationEssential
- Registered Nurse
- Master's in nursing including advanced clinical practice skill set
- Experience in cancer nursing and SACT
- Cancer or Haematology Nursing Pathway or equivalent
