The University of Manchester is seeking a highly skilled Research Assistant to join the Horizon Europe research project TWIN-RELECT, funded by UK Research and Innovation (UKRI) under the UK government's Horizon Europe funding Guarantee. The project brings together 4 partners from across Europe to enhance networking activities between research institutions of the widening countries and top-class leading counterparts, encompassing joint research, knowledge transfer and exchange of best practices. Research in TWIN-RELECT focuses on the development of a cross-layer methodology for the design of reliable integrated circuits.

The proposed methods and associated tool flow can quantify the risks of faults in modern integrated circuits by combining and vertically integrating reliability analysis at different layers, from the semiconductor layer up to the application one through circuit and microarchitectural analysis.

The University of Manchester has a long and distinguished track record in the research and teaching of core Computer Science, and across interfaces to adjacent disciplines. Founded upon the pioneering work of Williams, Kilburn and Turing, the Department was the first academic Department of Computer Science in the UK and one of the first to run an undergraduate programme.

The research strength of the school is reflected in consistently strong returns in UK research assessment exercises (5* in RAE 2000, 2nd in Research Power in RAE 2008, and ranked equal 1st for research environment in REF 2014 and REF 2021). The School/Department is strongly committed to promoting equality and diversity, including the Athena SWAN charter for gender equality in higher education. This includes flexible working arrangements, family-friendly policies, and support to allow staff to achieve a good work-life balance.

We positively welcome applications from women for this post. The University offers a range of benefits, including:

  • Market leading Pension scheme
  • Excellent employee health and wellbeing services including an Employee Assistance Programme
  • Exceptional starting annual leave entitlement, plus bank holidays
  • Additional paid closure over the Christmas period
  • Local and national discounts at a range of major retailers

As an equal opportunities employer, we welcome applicants from all sections of the community regardless of age, sex, gender (or gender identity), ethnicity, disability, sexual orientation and transgender status.

Our University is positive about flexible working – you can find out more here.
