Job summary

Applicants are invited for a research assistant post on an innovative research study, jointly led byresearchers at the Complex Trauma and Resilience Research Unit and the Chair of the Soteria Network UK, a community of service users, families, community groups and professionals with experience and/or knowledge of psychiatric inpatient care.

The post holder will support the delivery of a nationally-funded research grant exploring how the Soteria model could be used in the UK as an alternative to inpatient admission for people with extreme mood states. This co-produced study involves working closely with a community research team of people with lived experience, participant recruitment, qualitative data collection (focus groups and interviews) and analysis. The post holder will also provide general study support, contribute to a systematic literature review, and organise team meetings and dissemination events.

The post is offered full-time until 31st December 2025, with an anticipated start date of 1st November 2024.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate for this post will hold a good ( class) degree in Psychology with experience of conducting research, sound knowledge of research design and methods, and interests in working with people who experience extreme mood states. Strong communication, interpersonal and organisational skills are essential, as is the ability to meet deadlines.

Main duties:

To assist with the smooth day-to-day organisation and completion of this research project by supporting the CIs. To support the involvement of the study's community research team consisting of people with lived experience of mental health difficulties, and to support their engagement in the research, including involvement in co-design and co-analysis meetings. To assist in the recruitment of research participants, including people with lived experience of mental health difficulties, healthcare professionals, and other stakeholders. To assist with the facilitation of focus groups and to conduct semi-structured research interviews with participants as required to explore, elicit and analyse information relating to the research study. To conduct systematic literature reviews. To assist with presentation of research/research design to CTRU's patient and public involvement and engagement (PPIE) group, gather feedback, and summarise for the research team. To assist in the organisation of dissemination event(s) and preparation of associated dissemination materials.
