About the Role

The Head of Maintenance Engineering is a key leadership position responsible for overseeing the mechanical disciplines at the Lanxess Trafford Park site. This role involves implementing and developing maintenance standards and workflows, ensuring compliance with Lanxess regulations, standards, and guidelines.

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the Mechanical Maintenance team and contractors, as well as taking an active role in the leadership team of the engineering department.

Main Responsibilities
  • Leadership and Line Management
    • Develop and maintain a high-performing Mechanical Maintenance team.
    • Ensure continuous improvements in maintenance procedures, workflows, and standards.
    • Manage the attendance of team members at required regular trainings.
  • Compliance and Risk Management
    • Contribute to process safety and hazard analysis (HAZOP) and process safety compliance.
    • Manage changes to technical and engineering facilities.
    • Ensure the mechanical integrity of the plant consistent with corporate and UK legislation and standards.
  • Maintenance and Operations
    • Monitor and control maintenance key performance indicators (KPIs).
    • Take ownership of escalated maintenance issues, carrying out troubleshooting and developing technical solutions.
    • Contribute to maintenance and shutdown planning routines.
  • Site Projects
    • Collaborate with the Head of Projects to identify, define, and manage small capital plant projects within budget and timeline.
    • Carry out engineering design and specify equipment for small projects and modifications.
About You

The ideal candidate will be an experienced people manager with a proven track record in engineering, preferably in a chemical, pharmaceutical, or petrochemical plant on a COMAH site. They will have excellent communication and teamworking skills, good organizational and problem-solving skills, and a detailed knowledge of common regulations and standards.

The candidate will also have a good understanding of maintenance processes, experience of plant engineering activity, and knowledge of computerized maintenance management systems.
