Assistant Accountant Role Overview

We are seeking a dedicated Finance Assistant at Job Switch Ltd within the Finance and Investment Division.

The successful candidate will assist the Finance Business Partner in managing the financial accounts for various services and functions.

Your responsibilities will include a range of practical accounting tasks focused on the collection, verification, and analysis of financial data related to several local authority services.

You will report directly to a Finance Business Partner.

Key Responsibilities

The Finance Assistant will undertake a diverse array of tasks, including:

  • Generating budgetary and accounting reports, including financial monitoring statements with detailed commentaries.
  • Supporting the preparation of budget monitoring documents and working papers for specific service areas.
  • Maintaining salary-related working papers and agency monitoring documents, along with other essential working papers such as budget trackers.
  • Processing and preparing journal entries.
  • Overseeing financial transactions to ensure accuracy.
Candidate Profile

To be successful in this role, you should possess:

  • AAT qualification or equivalent.
  • Strong numerical skills.
  • Proficient IT skills, particularly in advanced Excel.
  • The ability to collaborate effectively with both financial and non-financial personnel.
  • A team-oriented mindset within a Finance Department.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • A meticulous and methodical approach to tasks.
  • Experience in reconciling large volumes of transactions, ideally with a background in preparing reconciliations for salaries and bank accounts.

£16.00-£17.00 per hour
