Job Title: General Manager

The Holt Bar & Terrace is a thriving café, bar and events venue based within Budleigh Salterton Cricket Club's newly built clubhouse and grounds, with incredible views over the Otter valley and out to sea.

About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced General Manager to oversee the commercial operation of The Holt Bar & Terrace. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the venue, overseeing events, and ensuring that The Holt is a welcoming and enticing space for its members, players, supporters, and the public all year round.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage the overall running and efficient operation of The Holt Bar & Terrace and all its commercial operations.
  • Line manage the kitchen and bar team, with a hands-on approach to day-to-day operations.
  • Work closely with the Club Treasurer to prepare and develop invoices, budgets, and financial planning.
  • Ensure the café and bar offer a high standard of food and customer experience for members and visitors.
  • Update and introduce new policies and procedures.
  • Represent The Holt Bar & Terrace professionally in all dealings with third parties.
Requirements
  • Strong track record of working in the hospitality sector, including relevant management experience.
  • Proven commercial acumen.
  • Planning and organising events.
  • Team management and staff training.
  • A clear understanding of the issues of a multi-functional and seasonal business.
  • Excellent management and administrative skills.
  • Ability to work with a diverse membership base and promote The Holt Bar & Terrace and BSCC as a welcoming community asset.
Personal Qualities
  • A hands-on work ethic and a flexible approach to working hours and working weekends and evenings (particularly during the cricket season).

Ability to commute/relocate: Budleigh Salterton, EX9 7BA: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)
