Care Support is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Care and Support Worker to join our team. As a Care and Support Worker, you will play a vital role in supporting individuals who choose to remain in the comfort and security of their own homes, helping them to live an independent and active life as possible.
Key Responsibilities- Meet the personal needs of service users, assisting in meeting their care support and daily living needs.
- Provide care and any additional support as required, working in accordance with individual support plans and risk assessments.
- Enhance the wellbeing of service users by assisting with differing aspects of their daily living, including personal care and domestic duties.
- Promote and maintain physical independence of service users, using mobility aids and moving and handling equipment safely and correctly.
- Develop a rapport with service users and cultivate a safe and supportive relationship.
- Support with their health needs as required, including administering medication and maintaining accurate records.
- Reflect and respond to service users' changing needs, reporting changes or concerns to the office team to ensure support plans and risk assessments are kept updated.
- Provide end of life/palliative care to service users as required, supporting their care as defined in their support plan.
- Promote service users' emotional and physical wellbeing, engaging in activities such as talking, helping with daily living tasks, and assisting with hobbies and recreations.
- Act promptly and appropriately to protect service users from neglect or abuse, documenting any disclosures or concerns accurately.
- Contribute to and work effectively as part of a team, being flexible and able to work in other nearby locations or cover shifts for colleagues as needed.
- Dress appropriately, wearing uniform, identity badge, and using personal protective equipment provided by Care Support, in accordance with company guidelines and the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974.
- Participate in training and team meetings, contributing to the development of the team and the organization.
- Respond to service users' unplanned needs within the Extra Care Scheme environment, documenting these on the correct paperwork.
- Not provide care and support classed as nursing or medical care without appropriate supervision/training or prior consent of a registered Health Professional or Management.
- Respect and comply with the requirements under the Data Protection Act 2018, National opt out, and GDPR laws.
