About the Role

This is a senior-level position that requires a deep understanding of cyber security, secure working practices, technical controls, and emerging threats within a large, complex, and technologically diverse organization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deploy, maintain, and configure a wide range of security technologies, including SIEM solutions, firewall solutions, cloud security centers, cyber threat intelligence, and extended detection and response services.
  • Work in and with a multi-disciplinary IT team to develop and support progressive security across platforms, including Windows, Linux, Apple, and technologies such as firewalls and VPNs.
  • Represent the Cyber Security Team in working groups on PCI DSS, ISO27001, and Cyber Essentials, and develop and deliver technical recommendations based on your experience of one or more of these standards.
  • Support university staff and students with Cyber Security issues or queries, and provide guidance on secure working practices.
  • Participate in initiatives and projects to improve technology and cyber security delivery to the university, and contribute to the development of technical recommendations.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in cyber security operations, with a strong understanding of technical controls and emerging threats.
  • Proficiency in deploying, maintaining, and configuring security technologies, including SIEM solutions, firewall solutions, and cloud security centers.
  • Ability to work in a multi-disciplinary IT team, and develop and support progressive security across platforms.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to represent the Cyber Security Team in working groups and provide technical recommendations.
  • Experience of working in a large, complex, and technologically diverse organization, with a strong understanding of secure working practices.
