About the Role

We are seeking a highly experienced and accomplished Principal Scientist to join our team at Fera Science. As a key member of our Biosecurity and Food Safety department, you will play a leading role in the development and delivery of our scientific services, driving innovation and excellence in our work.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement strategic plans to advance our scientific capabilities and services, ensuring we remain at the forefront of innovation in our field.
  • Collaborate with our Heads of Business Units to identify new opportunities and develop services that meet the evolving needs of our clients and stakeholders.
  • Lead and manage projects, delegating tasks and responsibilities to team members as needed, and ensuring timely and successful delivery.
  • Conduct critical evaluations of our strengths and weaknesses, identifying areas for improvement and developing strategies to address them.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including clients, partners, and industry leaders, to promote our services and expertise.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest developments and advancements in our field, applying this knowledge to inform our scientific services and ensure we remain competitive.
Requirements
  • Relevant qualifications at Bachelor, Masters, or PhD level, with significant industry experience and a strong track record of achievement.
  • Established reputation and national/international profile in Natural Capital or aligned disciplines, with a deep understanding of the regulatory requirements.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to translate complex scientific concepts into clear and concise language.
  • Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire team members to achieve their best.
  • Commercial acumen and the ability to convert concepts into successful business outcomes.
