We are seeking a highly experienced and accomplished Principal Scientist to join our team at Fera Science. As a key member of our organization, you will play a leading role in the development and delivery of our food safety and authenticity services.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and lead scientific projects on food safety and authenticity, ensuring the delivery of high-quality results and services.
- Collaborate with our business unit leaders to develop sustainable growth plans, aligning with our business and science strategies.
- Contribute to the development of our science offer in food safety and authenticity, identifying new products and services for national and international markets.
- Formalize our food safety and authenticity R&D capability, presenting it to industry, enforcement, and regulator stakeholder groups.
- Lead by example, maintaining personal science expertise and reputation, delivering science projects, public speaking, and publishing high-quality scientific publications.
- Identify and develop the potential in emerging scientists through inspiring, mentoring, and coaching Fera colleagues.
- Be a leading ambassador for the organization, promoting the Fera vision, strategy, and values.
- Relevant qualifications at Bachelor, Masters, or PhD level, plus significant industry experience.
- Established reputation and national/international profile in food safety and authenticity research, with demonstrable skills in analytical measurement science and interpreting quality scientific data.
- Experience of working to quality standards, e.g. ISO17025 and GLP.
- Demonstrable understanding of the regulatory requirements for food safety and authenticity.
- Reputable track record of strategic science development.
- Strategic thinking and effective decision-making skills, with the ability to make informed decisions based on knowledge, experience, and insights.
- Excellent communication skills, including presentation, public speaking, writing, and influencing.
- Accountability and thought leadership, with the ability to take full accountability for your area of science and guidance on those that you facilitate.
- Collaboration and leadership skills, with the ability to lead projects, delegate, and draw on skills and capabilities from across the business.
- Innovation and commercial acumen, with the ability to drive change and deliver services that demonstrate a clearly differentiated offering compared to competitors.
