As a key member of our Depot Management Team, you will work closely with the Operations Manager to ensure the smooth running of parcel shop operations within the Depot. This is a critical role that requires strong leadership and management skills to drive performance, cost, and operational efficiency.

The Van Manager will be responsible for managing all areas of day parcel shop operations, sortation, and transportation in an efficient and cost-effective manner. This includes people management, compliance, resourcing, and cost management.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Managing the day-to-day operations of the parcel shop, including sortation and transportation.
  • Leading a team of Warehouse drivers, including recruitment, induction, and ongoing performance and attendance management.
  • Ensuring compliance with legal requirements, including domestic driving hours and rest periods.
  • Planning and managing local routes to ensure effective delivery of parcels.
  • Managing budgets to achieve agreed service levels, including productivity, labour costs, and overtime usage.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Strong operational knowledge of end-to-end processes.
  • Transport knowledge, skills, or experience, including regulations.
  • A CPC National Certificate is desirable.
  • A full driving licence is required.
  • IOSH Qualified.
  • Advanced understanding of Management Information and Excel spreadsheets.
