Job Description
The successful candidate will join a team of Consultant Geriatricians working with the Edinburgh Hospital at Home (HaH) Service, currently based at Liberton Hospital. The post will support the Edinburgh Community Geriatrics, primarily the expanding Edinburgh HaH Service, providing input into ward rounds and consultant of the day work.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide medical input to the Edinburgh HaH Service, working closely with the team of nurses and other medical staff.
- Contribute to the Medicine of the Elderly (MoE) clinic, providing supervision to trainees and support to other medical staff.
- Participate in regular meetings with Community Pharmacists, Community Advanced Nurse Practitioners (ANPs), and contribute to teaching for junior Psychiatry trainees.
- Contribute to an active Quality Improvement Programme and Mortality and Morbidity meetings.
Requirements
The successful candidate must have full GMC Registration, a license to practise, and be eligible for inclusion in the GMC Specialist Register. Those trained in the UK should have evidence of higher specialist training leading to CCT or be within 6 months of confirmed entry from the date of interview. Portfolio Pathway (formerly known as CESR - Certificate of Eligibility for Specialist Registration) route doctors are only eligible to apply for a substantive consultant post once it has been awarded. Non-UK applicants must demonstrate equivalent training.
Working Arrangements
This is a less than full-time (6 PA) post to cover maternity leave, available from 21st October 2024 for 1 year. The post holder will work closely with the existing team of Consultant Geriatricians and other medical staff to provide high-quality care to patients.
