Housing Officer

About the Role
Brighton Lions Housing Society Ltd is a registered provider of social housing, overseen by a committee of volunteers and run on a daily basis by a small team from our Hove site. As a Housing Officer, you will be responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of our housing properties, ensuring that our residents receive excellent service and support.
Key Responsibilities
- Interview and show vacant properties to prospective residents.
- Collect and verify references, and implement housing policies and laws.
- Liaise with contractors to ensure timely and effective maintenance, repairs, and refurbishments.
- Monitor and schedule routine servicing and compliance checks.
- Manage the end of tenancy process, including collecting laundry money from all sites on a monthly basis.
- Conduct regular site visits and inspections to ensure the properties are well-maintained and meet our standards.
- Issue Section 13 rent increase notices and calculate annual service charges.
Requirements
- Proven experience in housing or lettings, with a strong understanding of housing management and law.
- Proficient in using Microsoft Office and SAGE, with knowledge of accounting principles, standards, and practices.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work accurately and with attention to detail.
- A valid driving license and use of a car, with business mileage funded.
- Ability to work as part of a team, while also being comfortable working independently.
Working Arrangements
- Part-time position, with a minimum of 18 hours per week.
- Monday to Friday schedule.
- Free parking and on-site parking available.
