Role Summary

This on-site position primarily involves serving as the Responsible Pharmacist, overseeing and executing the dispensing operations for Cannabis-Based Medicinal Products (CBMP) within a newly established facility. The dispensing of CBMP is governed by stringent regulations to avert misuse and diversion, as well as to manage unlicensed medications.

Compensation: Annual Salary ranges from £55,000 to £65,000 PA Pro-rata

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct clinical assessments of prescriptions for CBMP.
  • Ensure compliance with all regulations regarding the ordering, receiving, storage, and distribution of CBMP.
  • Maintain accurate records in accordance with GPHC standards for CBMP.
  • Provide patients with essential information and guidance for the safe use of CBMP, including advice on equipment such as vaporizers.
  • Advise prescribers on the availability of CBMP to ensure a steady supply for patients.
  • Safeguard the security of CBMP while fulfilling the role of Responsible Pharmacist.
  • Supervise the activities of pharmacy staff.
  • Collaborate closely with consultants and other healthcare professionals as part of a multidisciplinary team to ensure safe prescribing practices.
  • Conduct clinical audits of prescribing practices.
  • Maintain electronic health records for patients.
  • Implement necessary changes to medications in response to MHRA alerts, product withdrawals, and other local and national directives.
  • Contribute to the efficient operation and profitability of the service through monitoring and auditing of medications.
  • Participate in work-related meetings as required.
  • Maintain all mandatory training and stay updated with company policies and standard operating procedures.
  • Flexibility in working hours may be required.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Registered Pharmacist in the UK with a valid GPhC Number.
  • Completion of a CPD-accredited medical cannabis educational program is preferred, though training will be provided for the successful candidate.
  • Comprehensive therapeutic and clinical knowledge of CBMP.
  • Self-driven individual with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Professional demeanor, ethical standards, and a commitment to outstanding customer service.
  • Proficient in computer applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Strong communication skills with confidence in engaging with patients remotely.
