The office can be anywhere—from market stalls to spas, carnivals, hotels, and even behind the scenes at major events. Our Environmental Health Officers experience more in a career than many do in a lifetime, all while making a significant impact on the community. For some, this means providing essential financial support, while for others, it’s about helping realize their dream of opening a restaurant.As a Senior Officer covering for maternity leave within our Environmental Health Advisory team, you will have the opportunity to contribute meaningfully to the success of Westminster.
The team manages a diverse range of responsibilities, including food safety, health and safety regulations, licensing, noise control, public safety, planning, and special events.
Upon joining us, you will serve as a vital source of expertise, guiding and mentoring less experienced staff in case management, enforcement strategies, policies, and procedures.
Leading the execution of high-profile and intricate cases, you will collaborate with others to foster a sustainable and efficient organization while enhancing our reputation as a council that delivers exceptional value to its residents.
By identifying risks and facilitating the resolution of issues, you will play a crucial role in shaping service development and project delivery.
Building effective relationships with council colleagues, partner agencies, and the broader local and central government community will be essential. You will also be expected to monitor, analyze, and manage delegated budgets, funding, and resources as appropriate.
Your additional responsibilities will include contributing to the creation of outcome-focused processes and income generation strategies that ensure we achieve optimal value for money.
Ensuring compliance with legal, regulatory, policy, and procedural standards, you will be an integral member of a diverse and inclusive team that resonates with our community and exemplifies positive values and behaviors.
With a degree or diploma in Environmental Health or relevant qualifications and practical experience, you will be equipped to address complex complaints from the public, stakeholders, and elected officials.
Utilizing your knowledge and expertise, you will make informed and effective decisions while remaining mindful of reputational risk management. You will also have the capability to develop policies, procedures, and operational practices in collaboration with various agencies and professionals.
Proficient in implementing and overseeing quality assurance processes, reporting frameworks, and identifying developmental needs, you will be prepared to provide the necessary support and mentorship to ensure our service operates consistently and to the highest standards.
Skilled in designing, developing, and managing projects that enhance service delivery, you will be an inspiring and motivating communicator, educator, and influencer.
