Job Title: Lead Backend Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled Lead Backend Engineer to join our Group Data Science function at Kingfisher. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for leading the development and building of software platforms that enable us to apply and embed data science directly in our products and processes.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with Tech, Product, and Data teams to develop engineering platforms that support data-driven decision-making.
  • Support diverse teams in translating business requirements into technical solutions and communicating results effectively.
  • Provide technical leadership and support for junior team members, promoting a culture of innovation and excellence.
  • Develop cloud-based services using one or more cloud providers, with a focus on scalability, security, and reliability.
Requirements:
  • Excellent knowledge and experience in Django and Python backend development.
  • Strong understanding of computer science fundamentals and machine learning principles.
  • Proven experience in delivering high-quality software products and productionizing cloud-based services.
  • Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to motivate and manage a team of engineers.
  • Sensitivity and influencing skills to work effectively with stakeholders across various functions and levels of seniority.
