Position Overview
We are pleased to announce an exciting opportunity for a dedicated and passionate individual with personal experience in perinatal mental health to join our Parent and Baby Team.
The primary responsibility of this role is to assist service users throughout their recovery journey. We recognize that individuals with lived experience are invaluable in providing support to families as they navigate their recovery process.
The selected candidate should possess qualities of innovation, compassion, and motivation.
Key Responsibilities
The essence of Peer Support lies in the understanding that those who have faced similar challenges are uniquely positioned to guide others on their path to recovery.
The Recovery Support Specialist will deliver structured peer support and practical help to service users, empowering them to reclaim control over their lives and their distinct recovery journeys.
This role involves engaging with perinatal mental health service users to demonstrate empathy, share personal experiences, inspire hope, and foster recovery, with the ultimate goal of helping service users achieve and sustain independence within the community.
The Recovery Support Specialist will collaborate as part of a specialized community perinatal mental health team, working alongside other essential stakeholders involved in community care delivery.
This position will also include co-facilitating wellness coffee groups within local Family Hubs, providing support to the community regarding emotional well-being.
About Our Organization
The Parent and Baby Day Unit provides a day hospital service, community support, and the Lotus Maternal Mental Health pathway.
You will be an integral part of a multi-disciplinary team, collaborating with psychiatrists, nurses, community psychiatric nurses, psychologists, and administrative staff. This is a pivotal time for our team as we are in the process of developing new pathways with long-term funding plans.
Job Duties
To create a safe and non-judgmental environment for service users to seek social and emotional support. This is typically facilitated through organized groups such as relaxation classes and support groups. You will receive support from the multi-disciplinary team to assist in the recovery journey.
