Clinical Health Psychologist

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Clinical/Counselling Psychologist/CBT Therapist to join our team at Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing specialist psychological assessments and interventions to patients with chronic lung conditions, working across outpatient clinics and inpatient settings.
The ideal candidate will have a doctoral level training in clinical psychology or its equivalent, with experience of working with physical health problems and a strong understanding of the theory and practice of specialised psychological therapies. They will be able to communicate effectively with clients, their families, carers, and other professional colleagues, and have a high level of knowledge of the theory and practice of at least two specialised psychological therapies.
Key Responsibilities:- Provide specialist psychological assessments and interventions to patients with chronic lung conditions.
- Work across outpatient clinics and inpatient settings, providing psychological support to patients and their families.
- Develop and implement plans for the formal psychological treatment and/or management of a client's mental health problems.
- Receive regular clinical professional supervision from the lead clinical psychologist and other senior professional colleagues.
- Highly developed skills in the use of complex methods of psychological assessment, intervention, and management.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with clients, their families, carers, and other professional colleagues.
- Strong knowledge of the theory and practice of specialised psychological therapies, with a particular focus on physical health problems.
- Experience of working with a wide variety of client groups, across the whole life course, presenting problems that reflect the full range of clinical severity.
- Experience of teaching, training, and/or supervision, with a focus on physical health problems.
- Experience of assessing and treating clients across the full range of care settings, including cardiothoracic surgery, respiratory medicine, and cystic fibrosis.
- Doctoral level training in clinical psychology or its equivalent.
- Pre and/or post-doctoral training in one or more additional specialised areas of psychological practice, especially relevant to cardiothoracic care.
