Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Senior Transport Planner to join our team at Gregory Group. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for planning and scheduling transportation operations to ensure efficient and effective delivery of goods to our customers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the management of planning, organizing, and supervising the activities and resources of the transportation operation.
  • Plan and organize transportation activities, including the transition between peak and off-peak activity periods.
  • Plan loads (inbound and outbound) and delivery for the operation, while monitoring key performance indicators (KPIs) for on-time delivery, shift revenue, and vehicle utilization.
  • Manage and debrief drivers to ensure they have the necessary resources and support to perform their duties effectively.
  • Ensure that vehicle activity is planned in the most efficient manner to minimize costs and maximize productivity.
  • Meet daily revenue targets per shift per vehicle, while maintaining high levels of customer satisfaction.
  • Collaborate with line managers to ensure that the transportation operation is running efficiently and effectively.
  • Identify opportunities to add value to existing contracts and develop strategies to capitalize on these opportunities.
  • Ensure that all contracted work is covered in line with customer expectations, while maintaining high levels of quality and service.
  • Communicate collection times and delivery bookings with customers to ensure seamless logistics operations.
  • Adhere to company policies and procedures, including health and safety protocols and safe systems of work.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working in the logistics industry, with a focus on transportation planning and operations.
  • Proven experience in planning and scheduling transportation activities, with a strong understanding of transportation laws and regulations.
  • Leadership skills, with the ability to motivate and direct a team of transportation professionals.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with customers, drivers, and other stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret data and reports to inform transportation planning decisions.
