Role Overview:
As a Lead Mass Properties Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in managing mass property data for advanced submarine programs. Your expertise will contribute to the successful delivery of multi-billion-pound projects.
Key Responsibilities: Gather and analyze mass property data for various systems and equipment to ensure effective weight and centroid management on high-value submarine initiatives. Assist the Mass Properties Lead in compiling comprehensive weight and centroid reports for presentation to senior management. Collaborate with design engineers to accurately assess mass, centroid, and design readiness of complex mechanical and electronic systems. Maintain an extensive database of mass properties for all components. Contribute to and spearhead weight reduction initiatives while tracking weight-related risks and opportunities across disciplines. Analyze CAD models to derive estimates for mass properties, including associated uncertainties. Employ statistical methods to provide a holistic view of weight risks and opportunities to leadership and stakeholders. Required Qualifications:
Essential Degree in a STEM field or equivalent experience. Chartered Engineer (CEng) or Incorporated Engineer (IEng) status, or a clear pathway to achieve professional recognition. Proven ability to work autonomously and collaboratively within a team. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, with advanced skills in Excel. Desirable Experience with large-scale Electrical or Mechanical systems. Background in data analysis, including interpretation, visualization, and presentation. Familiarity with CAD software and related applications. Benefits:

The Weight Engineering Team comprises a diverse group of Engineers and Data Scientists dedicated to estimating, collating, and presenting mass properties data for multiple submarine programs. This specialist team is integral to the overall design and safety assurance of the vessels.
