Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Commodities VAT Specialist to join our Tax Team in London. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for providing technical VAT support to our Commodities business, ensuring compliance with VAT regulations and providing strategic tax advice.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide VAT advice and support to the Commodities business, including review of new products and services.
  • Ensure VAT compliance in the Commodities business, including preparation of VAT returns and other VAT reporting requirements.
  • Work closely with colleagues overseas to ensure effective management of indirect tax issues associated with the Commodities business.
  • Provide ad hoc VAT advice and support to the Head of VAT, UK, Europe and MEA.
Requirements
  • Commodities VAT specific experience is essential.
  • A deep understanding and knowledge of VAT and financial services is essential.
  • A background in VAT advisory work, is essential.
  • Good understanding of VAT compliance in the UK.
  • Experience of VAT processes and risks.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Competent negotiator and presenter of ideas.
  • Ability to work to deadlines.
  • Apply commercial judgment as well as technical proficiency.
  • Accountancy or legally qualified; Additional tax qualification would be advantageous.
  • Experience in general VAT and tax accounting.
  • Experienced VAT specialist particularly with commodities issues.
  • Worked in a multi-jurisdictional environment and gained knowledge of one or more tax systems.
  • Experience of partial exemption special methods and financial services VAT.
