LTF Recruitment Ltd is seeking a dedicated and passionate individual to join our team as a Pastoral Assistant in a large secondary school in London.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is committed to providing high-quality support to students experiencing Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) challenges.

The successful candidate will work closely with the pastoral lead and other staff members to create a positive and nurturing school environment, where students feel supported and encouraged to succeed.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work alongside the pastoral lead to develop and implement strategies to improve student behaviour and attendance across the secondary school.
  • Provide focused pastoral support to students experiencing SEMH challenges, helping them to manage their emotions and behaviours within the classroom.
  • Conduct one-on-one pastoral sessions with students to address individual behaviour concerns and provide targeted SEMH support.
  • Respond to on-call situations, providing immediate pastoral and behaviour-related assistance as part of the school's response team.
  • Regularly review and adjust behaviour and attendance plans based on student progress, ensuring continued support for SEMH and behavioural needs.
  • Perform risk assessments to ensure a safe, supportive environment for students dealing with behavioural and SEMH challenges.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with students to encourage improved behaviour and foster emotional resilience.

Person Specification:

  • Experience in a secondary school pastoral role or similar position supporting behaviour and SEMH.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the confidence to provide effective behaviour and SEMH support to students.
  • A genuine passion for education and helping students improve their behaviour and succeed in their learning.
  • Ability to work well within a team, particularly in a pastoral and behaviour support capacity.
