Job Title: Apprentice Building/Quantity Surveyor

We are seeking an experienced Project Quantity Surveyor to join our team at Places for People Developments, Scotland Region. This role will be based at our office at Chapelton, just south of Aberdeen, and will involve working closely with technical, construction, and development colleagues.

The successful candidate will have a clear understanding and close control of all development costs, across the full scope of project QS activities. This will include tender enquiries, subcontractor appointments, dealing with monthly applications for payment, control and agreement of variations, prelims cost control, and monthly cost reporting.

The role will also involve key involvement in monthly team meetings, risk and opportunity reviews, and CVR meetings with senior management. It is a fast-paced and varied role, where the commercial team is at the heart of the development process.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Clear understanding and close control of all development costs
  • Tender enquiries and subcontractor appointments
  • Dealing with monthly applications for payment
  • Control and agreement of variations
  • Prelims cost control and monthly cost reporting
  • Key involvement in monthly team meetings
  • Risk and opportunity reviews
  • CVR meetings with senior management

Requirements:

  • Several years of broad experience as a Quantity Surveyor in the construction industry
  • Background across all trades is helpful
  • Some exposure to and understanding of general infrastructure and groundworks
  • Good understanding of construction sequencing and interaction of trades in the build process
  • Interest in getting involved in the cost planning and budget preparation of future developments
