About the Role

GSL Education is seeking a dedicated and experienced Teaching Assistant to join our team at a Good Secondary School in York, North Yorkshire. As a Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting students with special educational needs, working closely with the SENCO and class teachers to deliver tailored support.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support class teachers with lesson planning and delivery, adapting to individual student needs.
  • Build strong relationships with students, creating an inclusive and supportive learning environment.
  • Assist with implementing individualized education plans, promoting student progress and achievement.
  • Support students with social and emotional development, encouraging participation in school activities and peer interactions.
  • Facilitate group discussions, guide group work, and assist with group projects, promoting collaborative learning.
  • Be dedicated to supporting students in reaching their full potential, fostering a growth mindset and promoting academic excellence.
Requirements
  • Previous experience as a Teaching Assistant or in a similar role is preferred.
  • Relevant qualifications in education or a related field.
  • Experience supporting students with special needs is preferred, but a willingness to learn and improve professionally is essential.
  • Capable of adapting approach to changes in behavior among SEN students.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Hold an Enhanced DBS registered to the update service or be willing to apply for a new one with GSL Education.
