Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced pharmacy technician to join our team as an Electronic Prescribing and Medicines Administration (EPMA) System Administrator. This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated individual to lead the ongoing maintenance of our EPMA system and provide expert support in the technical aspects of its development, implementation, and upgrading.

Main Responsibilities
  • Lead the maintenance of the EPMA system, including routine updates, installation of updated software, and testing.
  • Provide expert support in the technical aspects of the EPMA system, leveraging significant experience as a pharmacy technician and EPMA system user and administrator.
  • Maintain other digital systems within pharmacy and participate in the implementation of new pharmacy digital systems.
  • Support staff training in the use of EPMA and other digital systems across the Trust.

Person Specification
  • BTEC or NVQ Level 3 in Pharmacy Services
  • Current registration as a Pharmacy Technician with the General Pharmaceutical Council
  • Accredited Checking Technician for final checking of dispensed medicines
  • SQL Reporting training
Desirable Criteria
  • IT qualification
  • Train the Trainer or equivalent qualification
  • Project management qualification
Experience
  • Significant experience in a hospital pharmacy environment
  • Significant experience of using and developing EPMA
  • Experience of pharmacy stock control systems
  • Experience of working in and with a Multidisciplinary Team and Digital Health
Skills, Abilities, and Knowledge
  • Excellent working knowledge of SQL reporting
  • Able to use Microsoft Word and PowerPoint to produce high-quality documents
  • Confident talking to groups of up to 20 people
  • Excellent communication skills – oral and written
  • Able to record information accurately
  • Ability to travel to other EPMA sites and meet requirements for out of hours working
  • Able to resolve conflict between parties and negotiate to a solution.
  • Able to prioritise conflicting demands on time from a variety of sources and manage time accordingly
